The Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) aims to support investments in assets that reduce emissions in the country's power sector, and was announced in late 2022. The announcement was led by the Government of Indonesia, with support from the International Partners Group (IPG: Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, and United Kingdom).
The IPG, comprising multilateral and bilateral development financial institutions, committed to providing $10 billion in public finance, while the GFANZ working group members, comprising seven leading international private financial institutions, committed to mobilizing and facilitating another $10 billion in financing. The platform secretariat is housed at the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Germany's primary federal agency for international development, and is supported by Germany's Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
GFANZ serves as the private finance partner for both the Indonesia and Vietnam JETPs, convening working groups of named financiers established through expressions of interest and formalized under their respective political declarations. This work supports the mobilization of private capital by providing strategic and technical support, engaging with working group members to consolidate feedback on investment barriers, and helping to strengthen enabling environments for large-scale private investment.
The Indonesia JETP's Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (linked below) sets out the country's pathway for peaking power sector emissions and scaling renewable energy. The platform has established structured stakeholder engagement processes, conducting over 200 consultations with civil society, industry, and community actors. As of March 2026, the JETP has mobilized over $3 billion in financing for priority projects including solar, geothermal, and transmission infrastructure.
